The arrest of five robbers from Tiruchi in Delhi has shed light on a daring theft that took place at the pre-wedding celebration of industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, and Radhika Merchant on February 12. The Gujarat police apprehended the suspects, who allegedly stole cash and a laptop from a Mercedes car parked at the venue in Rajkot.

The modus operandi of the accused involved breaking the window of the parked car to pilfer ₹10 lakh in cash and a laptop. Thanks to surveillance camera footage, the police were able to identify the perpetrators and track them down. The arrests were made in Delhi, where the alleged robbers were interrogated and subsequently identified as Jagan, Deepak, Gunasekar, Murali, and Ekambaram, all hailing from Ramji Nagar in Tiruchi District, Tamil Nadu.

Investigations revealed that the accused had initially traveled to Jamnagar, one of the pre-wedding venues, but faced tight security measures. Undeterred, they moved to the Jamnagar bus stand, where they committed their first theft by breaking into a parked car and stealing a laptop. Subsequently, they targeted Rajkot, where they broke into another car, this time making off with ₹10 lakh in cash and another laptop.

The gang’s journey didn’t end there, as they proceeded to Delhi. While the alleged gang leader, Madhusudhan, remained at large, the apprehended members revealed shocking details of their criminal activities. The group’s modus operandi involved traveling to major cities by train and targeting cars parked in crowded areas, breaking windows to commit theft.

The scope of their criminal activities extended beyond Gujarat, with the gang admitting to committing thefts in 11 different locations across Rajkot, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, and Delhi over the past four months. Additionally, they had also targeted victims in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Kerala, highlighting the extent of their nefarious operations.

The swift action by law enforcement agencies in apprehending the perpetrators serves as a testament to their commitment to maintaining law and order. While the arrest brings closure to the theft at the Ambani family pre-wedding venue, it also underscores the importance of vigilance and security measures to thwart criminal activities in society.
