In a significant development for the foodtech landscape, Rainmatter, a venture fund backed by Zerodha, has invested approximately Rs 12 crore ($1.4 million) in TWF Flours, a burgeoning startup based in Noida. This marks TWF Flours’ inaugural institutional funding round since its establishment in 2019.
Having previously secured seed funding from notable figures in the startup ecosystem such as Rajaraman Santhanam (cofounder of Chargebee), Shan Krishnaswamy (cofounder of Freshworks), and Sharath Longanathan (cofounder of Ninjakart), TWF Flours has now elevated its financial standing with this pre-Series A funding round. According to cofounder Pranjal Kumar, the latest infusion of capital brings the company’s total funding to nearly $2 million.
The core focus of the newly acquired funds revolves around research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing the nutritional profile of flour. TWF Flours distinguishes itself through innovative milling technology that yields higher-quality flour with superior nutritional content. Emphasizing direct-to-consumer sales via its website and ecommerce platforms, as well as catering to the specialized needs of hotels and restaurants, TWF Flours caters to a diverse customer base seeking healthier alternatives.
Pranjal Kumar underscores the company’s customer acquisition strategy, predominantly driven by word-of-mouth referrals. With a reputation for delivering superior quality bread suitable for various culinary applications, TWF Flours competes favorably with imported alternatives while offering a more cost-effective solution without compromising on taste or quality.
In a market segment dominated by imported bread, TWF Flours stands out as a beacon of innovation and affordability, providing consumers with nutritious alternatives that align with evolving dietary preferences. With Rainmatter’s strategic investment and a commitment to ongoing research and development, TWF Flours is poised to further disrupt the foodtech landscape while championing healthier culinary choices for consumers worldwide.
