Are you among those who find themselves drawn to the eerie whispers of the night or the mysterious creaks echoing through the darkness? If so, prepare yourself for an adrenaline-fueled experience as the Wench Film Festival returns with its fourth edition, promising spine-chilling thrills and immersive experiences for horror enthusiasts.
From February 29 to March 3, the atmospheric setting of Andheri’s Veda Factory will be transformed into a haven for aficionados of horror and sci-fi cinema. With a lineup boasting 30 captivating films, the festival invites attendees to delve into the realms of the unknown and explore the depths of fear and fascination.
Founder Sapna Bhavnani envisioned the festival as a platform to celebrate women in filmmaking, particularly in the horror genre, where female creators were once a rarity. With a commitment to inclusivity, the festival showcases works not only from women filmmakers but also from the LGBTQiA+ community and non-binary directors, amplifying diverse voices in the realm of horror.
The opening night sets the stage for an unforgettable journey with the Indian premiere of “When the Devil Roams” by John Adams, Zelda Adams, and Toby Poser. Poser, a distinguished filmmaker, shares insights into the creation of the film, offering a glimpse into the twisted world of a family of murderous sideshow performers. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with Poser in workshops exploring the craft of independent filmmaking.
Beyond the silver screen, the festival promises a tapestry of experiences, including immersive workshops, thought-provoking panel discussions, and intimate interactions with directors and filmmakers. As Bhavnani aptly notes, horror serves not only as a means of entertainment but also as a potent tool for social commentary, offering a canvas where demons and vampires convey profound messages.
For those brave enough to embrace the unknown, the Wench Film Festival beckons with its tantalizing blend of fear and fantasy. Join us for an unforgettable cinematic journey where the boundaries between reality and nightmare blur, leaving indelible impressions on the mind and soul.
