Remembering G. Lasya Nanditha: A Tragic Loss for Secunderabad Cantonment

The early hours of February 23 brought shock and grief to the people of Secunderabad Cantonment as they learned about the tragic demise of their beloved legislator, G. Lasya Nanditha. At just 37 years old, Nanditha’s promising political career was cut short in a devastating road crash on the Outer Ring Road in Patancheru.

Nanditha’s untimely death has left a void not only in the political landscape but also in the hearts of those who knew her dedication and passion for public service. As the daughter of the former longtime Cantonment legislator, G. Sayanna, she carried forward a legacy of commitment to the welfare of the community.

The details surrounding the accident paint a somber picture of the events that unfolded. Despite efforts to shift her for emergency care, Nanditha succumbed to a severe head injury at the scene of the crash. The driver of the SUV, also involved in the accident, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby emergency center for treatment.

Reports indicate that the crash was a result of the high speed at which the vehicle was traveling. Tragically, no other vehicles were involved, leaving many questions unanswered about the circumstances leading to the accident.

Nanditha’s tenure as a legislator, albeit brief, was marked by her tireless advocacy for the people she represented. Elected from the Bharata Rashtra Samithi in December 2023, she quickly became a voice for the constituents of Secunderabad Cantonment.

This loss comes just days after Nanditha narrowly escaped another accident on the Narketpally-Addanki State Highway. The previous incident, which claimed the life of a home guard from Narketpally police station, serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving on our roads.

As the community mourns the loss of a promising leader, arrangements are being made to honor Nanditha’s memory. The mortal remains of the MLA lie at the local Amedha Hospitals, awaiting post-mortem procedures at the Patancheru area hospital.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember G. Lasya Nanditha not only for her contributions to public service but also for the spirit of compassion and dedication she embodied. May her legacy inspire us to strive for a safer, more just society in her memory.
