In a heartening display of recognition for selfless dedication and service, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has initiated a week-long State-wide programme to present the Seva Mitra, Seva Ratna, and Seva Vajra awards to outstanding village/ward secretariat volunteers. According to a press release by the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department, the government aims to inspire and encourage these volunteers by increasing the cash rewards substantially. Under the Seva Vajra category, volunteers will receive a cash award of ₹45,000, a substantial increase from the previous ₹30,000. Similarly, Seva Ratna awardees will now receive ₹30,000 compared to the earlier ₹20,000, while Seva Mitra recipients will see their award raised to ₹15,000 from ₹10,000.
In a move to further recognize excellence, 997 volunteers who demonstrated exceptional performance by collecting high-quality testimonials from beneficiaries of various government schemes will also be honored. The selection process was conducted transparently by a committee led by the district Collector. These volunteers will receive a cash prize totaling ₹1.61 crore, with amounts varying based on the level of recognition: ₹15,000 at the mandal/town/municipal corporation level, ₹20,000 at the constituency level, and ₹25,000 at the district level.
