In the wake of the prestigious Bharat Ratna being conferred posthumously to Chaudhary Charan Singh, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) is eyeing a potential alliance with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), according to RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary.
Speaking to News18, Jayant Chaudhary revealed that discussions have been held with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), indicating a growing inclination towards joining forces with the NDA. He emphasized that political decisions are driven by ideology, issues, and the prevailing political landscape.
“Our cadre and our workers want us to go with the NDA, especially after Bharat Ratna,” Jayant stated, highlighting the sentiment within the RLD ranks. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to contesting and winning elections, with a focus on addressing the concerns of the people.
The move towards aligning with the BJP gained momentum after the BJP’s gesture of honoring Chaudhary Charan Singh with the Bharat Ratna, an accolade that had long been awaited. Jayant expressed gratitude towards the BJP for winning his heart with this recognition, noting that it fulfilled the dream of his late father, Ajit Singh.
Reflecting on the significance of the Bharat Ratna, Jayant underscored the missed opportunity for the Congress to have bestowed this honor upon Chaudhary Charan Singh. He lamented the absence of recognition from the Congress, stating that it would have brought immense joy to his father.
During a parliamentary session on Saturday, Jayant found himself at the center of attention, with some opposition members gesturing towards him to align with the BJP while discussing the Bharat Ratna issue.
As the RLD leader signals a potential shift towards the NDA, political dynamics in the region are poised for transformation. With discussions underway and ideological considerations at play, the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh may witness significant developments in the days to come.
