Mark Ruffalo Advocates for Israel-Hamas Ceasefire

At the recent DGA awards in Beverly Hills, actor Mark Ruffalo made a powerful statement in support of peace between Israel and Hamas. Sporting lapel pins representing “peace lilies” and “Artists for Ceasefire,” Ruffalo emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict.

Speaking to Deadline, Ruffalo highlighted the devastating toll of the violence, with thousands of lives lost and countless more facing dire humanitarian crises. He underscored the ineffectiveness of continued bombing campaigns, urging world leaders, particularly President Biden, to prioritize diplomacy and pursue a lasting ceasefire.

Ruffalo’s advocacy for peace extends beyond his words, as he actively supports Artists for Ceasefire, a movement dedicated to promoting dialogue and ending violence in conflict zones. Despite the solemnity of the occasion, Ruffalo chose not to make a statement during the awards ceremony itself, opting instead to honor his colleague Yorgos Lanthimos.

In Lanthimos’ upcoming film “Poor Things,” Ruffalo takes on the role of Duncan Wedderburn, a charismatic character caught in a whirlwind of unexpected events. Additionally, Ruffalo is set to star in Bong Joon-ho’s highly anticipated sci-fi thriller “Mickey 17,” where he portrays a commanding presence aboard a colonizing spaceship alongside a star-studded cast.

As Ruffalo continues to use his platform to advocate for peace and justice, his commitment to raising awareness and promoting positive change remains unwavering. With each project and public statement, he demonstrates the power of art and activism in shaping a better world for all.
