First Secretary Anupama Singh delivered a robust rebuttal, denouncing Pakistan’s misuse of the Council’s platform to propagate “patently false allegations against India.” Singh reiterated India’s unwavering position on the status of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing its integral and inalienable part of India, and dismissing Pakistan’s claims as lacking any legitimacy.
Furthermore, Singh didn’t shy away from shedding light on Pakistan’s dismal human rights record, particularly its persecution of minorities. She highlighted the egregious attacks on the Christian community in Jaranwala city in 2023, where numerous churches were destroyed, and Christian homes were burnt down. Singh also drew attention to Pakistan’s support for UNSC-sanctioned terrorists, contrasting it with India’s pluralistic ethos and democratic credentials. By hosting and even celebrating terrorists sanctioned by the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s actions stand in sharp contrast to India’s commitment to pluralism and democratic values.
