B. Praveen, KC Akash Babu, A. Harikrishnan, and DV Iniyan, all graduates of Architecture from the National Institute of Technology \u2013 Tiruchi (NIT-T), embarked on a journey to explore cost-effective construction methods. Inspired by their studies and a shared passion for innovation, they set out to build a 750 sq.ft house on a 1,550 sq ft plot in Thalakudi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unveiling Unusual Features:
The red-brick house, standing proudly amidst fields, boasts distinctive features that blend the old with the new. Its most striking element is the gently curving Mexican dome adorning the drawing hall, reminiscent of a well-baked loaf of bread. This age-old technique, popularized by Bengaluru-based architect Varun Thautam, caught the attention of the young architects during their workshops and inspired their creative vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sustainable Design and Construction:
With a keen eye for sustainability, the architects incorporated innovative techniques to combat heat and harness natural resources. The Mexican dome, formed manually with bricks, serves as a natural insulator, reducing heat penetration and creating a comfortable micro-climate within the house. Additionally, the walls combine traditional brickwork with rammed earth fillers, creating a unique blend of strength and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
